Thursday Shout Out: September Babies!

It just so happens that Kate’s birthday is fast approaching, so what better Shout Out than a few of her faves-and valuable ideas for other birthday gifts, of course. But you know, the 14th is Kate’s birthday…so if you feel the need…here are some ideas…just sayin’.

Wall Hook/Cast Iron Antlers by TheDoorStop. $28. Okay, so I may have no idea where I’d put these in my house. True, I’d probably end up poking my eye out on them somehow (because I’m just that smooth). But come on! Are these not the coolest? Growing up and living in an area where it’s not uncommon to see deer heads gracing living rooms, bedrooms, and beyond, it amuses me to no end to have antlers decorating a non-hunting household. Plus, you know, they’ll hold my stuff so I don’t have to keep tossing my jacket on the floor.

Shakespeare Works Set by VintageHeirlooms4U. $225. There was a time when I couldn’t leave a vintage copy of Hamlet on a used bookstore shelf. It was kind of like my own Catcher in the Rye. My shelves soon became crowded and I had to stop buying them so cavalierly…even going to the tragic point of boxing some up. But if I had this amazing collection? Front and center, baby.  They are gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous, and much more exciting than my Riverside Shakespeare ever was.

Be Awesome Today 8×10 Art Print by LuciusArt. $18. I need one of these posted next to my bed so it’s the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning. And also by my front door so it’s the last thing I see when I leave the house. And also on the dashboard in my car. And by my desk. And pretty much on every lamppost from here to wherever I’m going. Because this print? It’s awesome. And it inspires me to be awesome too.

Super Tall Stripey Women’s Size Large by raccoon. $50. I enjoy being warm. I also have very large feet. These socks seem like the perfect combo for someone like me. They’re colorful, fun, and would look great peeking out of those cool new boots I’ve been dropping hints about for the past two months. Plus, they’re machine washable, which is a huge plus, because I’m a pretty lazy laundress. Just a thought.
