Thursday Shout Out: Let’s Get Organized!

A new year always seems to translate into an effort to become more organized for us-that stack of magazines that has been falling over every time we walk past it for the last 12 months has finally become unbearable, the constant search for paperclips in our sorry excuse for a desk drawer puts us over the edge, and looking at the accumulation of clutter has at long last taken its toll. So today’s shout out is in honor of that yearly effort to pretend that we aren’t disorganized yahoos and to put ourselves (and our spaces) together with style.

Aqua With Pink Birds Decorative Clipboard by Box64Studios. $14. To be honest, Box64Studios has so many gorgeous clipboards in her shop it was tough to pick just one…and we love the idea of hanging multiple above our desks as functional art. A surefire way to not only make our office gorgeous and keep some of these paper from piling up. That’s what we call a win-win, friends.

Large Bare Reclaimed Wood Desk Caddy by PegAndAwl. $65. Believe it or not, the stuff on our desk looks a lot like this*-we’ve got hammers, paintbrushes, and, of course, pens and pencils, all of which are, at the moment, pretty much everywhere. A desk caddy like this? Pretty much perfect for those of us who have more than the stereotypical desk clutter. And it’s absolutely beautiful to boot.

(*We don’t have any beakers of teeth, though. Yet.)

Weekly Planner Chalkboard Calendar Vinyl Decal by SimpleShapes. $54.  Come on now. What isn’t awesome about this? Chalkboard-check. Simple and yet totally brilliant design-check. Ability to keep even us organized-CHECK! This weekly planner is so amazingly cool we really don’t know what else to say about it…other than we need one (and so do you).

Vintage Metal Ice Tray by FishLegs. $21. We love the idea of repurposing, and what better desk drawer organizer than this vintage ice tray? Keep  paperclips, thumbtacks, and all that miscellaneous (but totally necessary) junk that rolls around in your drawer neatly organized (and totally cool) in this. Problem solved.

Vintage Canvas Suitcase by CometWreckage. $68. What can’t you put in this gorgeous vintage suitcase? Magazines (you know you have a million that you’re keeping for no good reason and yet are totally unwilling to let go of-and you thought your grandma was bad with her National Geographics), last year’s files, artwork you haven’t gotten around to hanging, fabric scraps, old love letters, even….clothes. Our point is, this is an awesometown suitcase that you won’t mind looking at and you can put put stuff that you do mind looking at in it.

Black Salvaged Jewelry Organizer Number Five by JunkGenius. $29. Let’s face it-if you’re a chick, you probably have some necklaces. And if you’re like us, they’re probably getting tangled up in one way or another right this very minute. So why not use this super cool organizer to keep them from that horrible fate? It’s got character up the wazoo, and, well, you already know our feelings about repurposing. And honestly, if you don’t have any necklaces to hang? So what. Get this anyway and hang coats on it, the dog’s leash, or just put it up and enjoy how incredibly unique it is.

Orange You Glad Mini File Box by FreestyleGifts. $38. Last but certainly not least, this 3×5 mini file box is perfect for recipes, business cards, addresses, or whatever else you need to keep on hand. The dividers are made out of vintage record covers, for goodness sake-can you beat that? Can you? We didn’t think so, because we’re pretty sure nobody can. So instead of relying on an app or ugly Rolodex, put this on your desk and rest assured that you’ll be keeping yourself organized with style.
